For me, art is the reflection of, and dependent on, the full range of all of my past and present experiences. The diversity and richness of those experiences help remove the narrow constraints associated with being an artist today.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Academic institutions, popular culture and the art establishment itself work to reinforce the polarized perspectives of artists today. The romantic notions of how artists should live, create and be considered eliminates a world of alternate realities and experiences. I have witnessed this as an art student, an art teacher, a CEO, a husband, a father, and always as an artist. I believe in borderless perspectives from which to live, think and create. The boardroom informs an artistic voice just as the creative process drives innovation in pursuit of corporate profit. Understanding both enables the creation of a unique vision for each.
